AI Avatar internal guidance and safety training demonstration applied in a power plant operating environment
About
In energy and manufacturing industry sites such as power plants, facility guidance, safety training, and internal information delivery are carried out repeatedly, making the accuracy of information and consistency of delivery methods critical factors. However, existing methods relied on human-centered training and guidance, and limits were gradually becoming apparent in terms of operational efficiency and scalability.
Korea Southern Power introduced Perso Interactive-based AI Avatar to demonstrate guidance and training scenarios for internal employees in a large-screen environment. We implemented various scenarios usable in real-world settings, such as facility guidance, safety rule training, and visitor assistance, in the form of tasks performed by an AI Avatar, and designed interaction scenarios assuming actual operations rather than simple viewing content.
As a result, we confirmed the potential for automating internal guidance and training using AI Avatar and secured a meaningful PoC case that verified the scalability of AI adoption within energy and manufacturing industries. In particular, through a differentiated delivery experience compared with existing training methods, we were able to build internal consensus on future applicability in real operations.
Background
Industrial sites such as power plants handle a lot of safety-critical information, and accuracy and repetition in training and guidance are very important. However, the existing human-centered operation method could cause variation in training quality, and the burden on operating staff continually increased due to repetitive guidance tasks. In addition, various communication situations such as internal information guidance, visitor response, and safety training were operated separately, creating structural limitations that made it difficult to provide them as one integrated experience. Especially when the same content had to be delivered repeatedly, an efficient response system was required.
Against this backdrop, Korea Southern Power reviewed a new approach capable of automating repetitive guidance and training and providing a more consistent delivery experience by leveraging AI-based interaction technology, and proceeded with a scenario-centered PoC applicable to real industrial environments.
Solution
Based on Perso Interactive, we implemented an AI Avatar and comprehensively organized various internal communication scenarios usable in a power plant environment. In particular, we focused on connecting guidance, training, and response flows considered for real operating environments into a single experience rather than a simple technology demo.
By designing the AI Avatar to appear directly in a large-screen environment and perform facility guidance, safety rule explanations, and service introductions, we transformed existing text- and video-centered training into a more intuitive and immersive conversational experience. This allowed participants to go beyond simply 'seeing' information and experience understanding through interaction. In addition, we demonstrated a structure that could be used immediately in actual operations by integrating various situations—such as guidance for internal employees, visitor support, and facility introductions—into a single AI interface. Through this, we showed that an AI Avatar can function as a practical agent performing repetitive guidance tasks and applied a design that considered future systemization as well.

Results
Through this demonstration, we confirmed that AI Avatar can be effectively used even in industrial environments such as power plants. In particular, large-screen-based guidance and training increased participant immersion and significantly improved the intuitiveness and understanding of information delivery compared with existing training methods. By confirming the potential to replace repetitive facility guidance and safety training with AI, we laid the groundwork for reducing the burden on operating staff and standardizing the training process more effectively. This is meaningful not only as an efficiency improvement but also because it can ensure consistency in training quality.
This project is evaluated not as a simple technology demo, but as a case that verified the practical applicability of automating guidance and training using AI Avatar in energy and manufacturing industry environments. It is also significant in that it secured a reference point that can serve as a starting point for future expansion discussions for real-world deployment.
Recommended for
This use case is ideal for:
Managers of industrial sites such as power plants and factories where safety training and facility guidance are essential
Operations leaders aiming to enhance visitor assistance and internal guidance simultaneously
Companies exploring AI-based digital transformation across their operations
The solution is also highly effective for organizations seeking to streamline repetitive training and guidance tasks, offering a practical reference for realistic adoption scenarios.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Can it be deployed on-site immediately without installation or separate development?
A. Yes. Perso Interactive AI can be deployed on-site immediately without separate development or infrastructure setup. However, if additional information or customization is required, we proceed with the desired development through prior consultation. After development, the station (kiosk) device can be installed for immediate on-site operation.
Q. Can it also be applied to actual power plant operating environments?
A. Yes, it can. Although this case is a demonstration (PoC), it was designed based on actual facility guidance, safety training, and visitor response scenarios, so it can be expanded for on-site application.
Q. Can it be operated in a station form instead of a large screen?
A. Yes. The same AI Avatar system can be expanded to various device environments such as stations (kiosks), touch devices (tablets), and mobile, enabling flexible operation tailored to the space and purpose.
"
We were able to confirm that the guidance and training approach using AI Avatar was much more intuitive and immersive than the existing approach, and that it is sufficiently applicable in actual industrial settings.
